Due to the economy, I would suggest looking into renting a small beach house outside of town, you can get one for around $100/night, bring a few people and split the cost!

I am curious, is there any extra process to go through to take an animal across the border in either direction?

You know about the new restrictions for border crossing, right? You either need a Passport ID card or actual passport to get back into the country, but I was told they are still lienient about it and will let you back with just a copy of your birth certificate.
