Silly question, but how are the roads/highways around Eureka Springs in regards to how narrow they are, is it like driving in other mountainous areas where there is a guardrail and then a steep drop-off right next to it, etc.? We are considering a last minute road trip from Texas, so would be either be heading east from OKC on 40, then up on 540, then the smaller roads... or east from Tulsa. I remember going to Eureka Springs when I was younger, but I don't remember what the drive was like since I wasn't driving. I am asking because, even though I am not actually afraid of heights in general, I specifically don't like driving on "high" roads, ones where it seems it would be quite easy to slip off the side and down a mountain, etc. I am used to driving in the Hill Country of Texas, but that is hilly rather than mountainous. Again, I know it all sounds silly, but just thought I would ask! Thanks.

Gentle climb in rolling hills, very scenic. Expect LOTS of motorcycles on the weekend. Not the heart stopping mountain roads like around my parts. And if you wait until fall the leaves should be beautiful, hopefully.

We're in a drought now--a bad one. I think this may impact the foliage this autumn.
