Can someone tell me if it's possible to own lake front property on Beaver? Also can you place a private dock on your property? I have a lake home on Grand lake in NE Oklahoma. It's one of only two lakes in the entire state where you own down to the water. Grand is a GRDA lake, most are Corps of Engineer lakes and I know Beaver is a corp lake too. The area around Beaver is so beautiful, plus the trout fishing on the white river is outstanding, I find myself making the two hour drive every other week just to catch my limit of trout. If I can get all the privileges of lake front home ownership and private dock ownership on Beaver, I might just make a switch.

There are definitely lake-front homes on Beaver Lake. You would probably be better off finding a lake-front home with an existing dock. I'm not sure the Corps of Engineers is allowing additional docks to be built, but you could certainly check with them directly.

There are some homes that do have private docks, but like the other email mentioned the new stuff will have community docks. What I understand is that on any corp lake over 500 acres the corp owns the lake rights...true?

On Corps of Engineer lakes (Bull Shoals, Ouachita, etc) you cannot build right down on the water. The entire shorelines of those lakes are protected by a buffer zone that is owned and managed by the corps.

How large the buffer zone is I do not know, you would probably have to contact the corp.

I think it depends on how deep your pockets are.

Here are a couple of examples:

I'd take either one. Beaver Lake, as you said, is extraordinarily beautiful...when you glimpse the water through the trees, or between homes, from a high bluff, it is so blue as to almost appear that you are looking at the Caribbean, or some other such tropical sea.

I'm bumping this thread because I have some questions. While looking on Zillow at Bella Vista properties, occasionally there is a lakefront home in the 200-250 K range. There will be some sort of path going down all the way to the lake, and even a private dock at some properties. As you all know, Bella Vista has many lakes, with Loch Lomond being the largest.

What's not to love? Jump in for a dip on a hot day, fish from your back yard, keep a kayak on the shore, or go boating without the hassle of trailering. Pure heaven.

Like everything else in life, there would be negatives. Mosquitoes, noise, strangers coming on to the land you own, and in Florida the alligators come to visit.

I'd love to hear from the Arkansas locals, what are the best and the worst things you can say about lakefront living?
