Hello,
I retired in '05 from the USAF and am working fulltime in TN. We have no income taxes here, a high sales tax, and they don't tax my military retirement. We are considering semi-retiring to Ark (Little Rock or north of that) in a few years to get closer to my wife's family a few hours away. Can anyone tell me about taxes there? I see the cost of living is low. Thanks

The first $6,000.00 of your retired pay is tax exempt and the balance is taxed at your tax rate. Sales tax here in Pulaski County is about 7.5% and varies around the state because each city and county has their own tax rate that is added to the state tax. Several of the cities also have a "hamburger tax" which is added to your food and lodging bills.

If you wear orange, you will be taxed extra.

Default Fair Enough

I hate orange. I am a Georgia fan living amongst these Vol fans. Since we wear Red, like the Razorbacks, I suppose that means I will earn a further tax break?
