Do a lot of Filipinos develop diabetes because they put sugar in a lot of their foods?

Diabetes Prevalence - Country Rankings 2010

#83. Doesn't seem to be too much of a problem. Yet. We'll see what happens when more people escape poverty and start living more sedentary lifestyles.

...and adopt a more Westernized, or SAD (Standard American Diet) way of eating.

there are already a lot of big people over there and the food is mostly unhealthy. It's not just Westernization that will make them unhealthy

anyways, why so many questions about the Philippines? You should probably go to a Filipino forum because I'm sure everyone is tired of a new Filipino thread every day

We don't really put sugar in all of our foods. Filipinos ( but not me and my Mum and siblings ) just put sugar in Spaghetti and chorizos in other places in the Philippines ( Vigan chorizo is not and probably more similar to Spanish Chorizo.
The rest are not really sweet.

Anyway, i saw some French chefs in a cooking show adding some sugar in their foods too and they said it's to balance the saltiness of the food.

It would be a good idea to create subforums specifically for certain nations or regions in Asia.

There are also Philieppines-specific sites out there which would be able to answer your questions in depth.

they also use lots of vinegar in many of the dishes and also use it as dipping sauce on a lot of fried foods, not good for your teeth

I can taste vinegar in almost all the foods, including soups

the fatty cuts of meats and organ meats is also high in colesterol
