I heard it was large in the Mideast, but Lebanon surprised me somewhat. I always heard that Lebanese were the most attractive in the Arabic world by far, plus they always do so well in the Miss Universe/Miss World contests.
Nontheless, the top 3, #1 Qatar, #2 Lebanon, #3 Saudi Arabia
All of these statistics are dubious. In nearly all countries, weights are self-reported. If a certain culture takes pride in being "well fed", or where "pleasantly plump" is fashionable, more people will over-state their weight, or perhaps even prefer to be fat. Only a few countries have statistics based on medical determinations of weight, and even in those, the clinical definition of obesity might vary.
In modern times, peninsular Arab women are very unlikely to care about their weight, since they are never seen in public wearing anything that would reveal their figure.
In the USA today, the clinical definition of obese is extremely conservative, and an American looking quite fit and healthy can very well fit the clinical definition obese, and nearly everyone is either "overweight" or anorexic. On American standard height-weight tables, a man who is 6'0" tall is "overweight" if he weighs more than 187. That would include almost every professional athlete.
I hate these studies as there are several with different results. When I lived in Australia the local media ws covering a report that Australians surpassed Americans in fatness http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...ans-study.html
When I was in the middle east I did not notice larger women probably because they were all bundled up and covered in black, which is a slimming colour. I wear lots of black. LOL.

Yes, I agree with this. I am nearly 6'1 and I weigh 175 and I am in the high end of the desirable range. I am fit, but thin, so I found it crazy that I was at the high end of the range. I imagine the vast majority of people are not in the desirable range...

Lebanese women are most likely to look European/greek/mediterranean. I don't consider them arabic. And yeah many ME women are fat, due in large part to the culture. The women are not expected to exercise nor show their body. They do take care of their faces though.
Israel has the hottest girls in the region. Iran isn't part of the Arab world but the chicks in Iran are smoking too. It isn't surprising to see the KSA up there, anyone whose been there can tell you about the dirt cheap and rich food plus their car culture. No where in America will you see as many SUVs not even Texas!

That's interesting you mention that about Lebanese not looking Arabic. It's usually Arabic/Persian people who always tell me that Lebanese are the most attractive in the region. If they looked more European, than it's probably a reflection of what they assume is to be more attractive.
I've also taken to reading a book 'Hello, Dubai' all about Dubai and the region. It does sound like fastfood has become the norm, and everyone is gorging out on all the world's foods. It seems there is just so much money there, and gas is so cheap there. Plus it's desert, so I imagine they'd just become very car-culture, and grazing at all kinds of restaurants. Everyone is just living wealthy lives, but not healthy lives, from the sounds of it.

I'm pretty sure 90% of those 6'0" tall and 187 lb in the US are everything BUT athletes.
