What languages do you speak/understand? (country, speaking, interesting, school)

Whether it be speaking, reading, writing, understanding at at least a basic level (at least speaking/understanding if not reading).
Unfortunately I'm monolingual even though I 'learned' Japanese at school.
I'm excluding English, of course, but it'd be interesting to hear non-native speakers experience learning English. Like at what age you started learning.etc. List languages and also mention which country you're from. I'm also including some well-known European languages because I know quite a few Asians learn them too.
I posted this here because I wanted to get an Asian response (this wasn't aimed at you Davy, I mean anyone who is Asian or interested in Asian can respond even if they don't speak an Asian tongue, just saying).

I saw that, but that didn't get you to your, as in sentence 1 described, "basic level" ? And didn't you say somewhere that your parents spoke something other than English at home.
