With the economic times the West is currently going through, has this had any effect on the ridiculous rents in the Middle East? Has rent gone down, or trending down?

It always amazed me how much rent was in places like Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, etc. Now that countries are cutting back on oil usage, I am sure this is, or will have some effect in the region, perhaps bring rents down to a more realistic level. There has just been way too much construction in the ME for residential use, who's going to rent if their companies cut back?

I saw a program on Dubai and the prices of homes and condos have dropped alot. Most listed at 1/3rd of what they had been ;but still high.
