Let this be a thread for anyone who wants to REFUTE by personal experience what I refer to as the "personal" claims of the Bible. By personal, I don't mean the stories of the Bible per se but those specific verses that are supposedly given to us by God for strength, peace of mind, good health, etc. and the promises of God if you follow and put into practice those verses. Many ex-christians could probably be good for posting in this thread.

[raises hand] Ex-Christian here, but I'm not sure what you're looking for. I've had lots of personal experiences, religious and not, so you might need to be a little more specific on what information you want. I could rant on and on for pages but I won't do that unless and until you say specifics.
Yep, I'm not sure what you are looking for. I doubt that unanswered prayers would cut much ice since we know that many go unanswered and I have had some answered when I never even prayed, but theists have easily got over that with the 'sometimes God says 'No' explanation on non delivery, notwithstanding
John 15:16 "... whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you."
and Mark 11.23."I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him."
.
God promises peace of mind and all other blessings for those that follow his teachings, commands and directives. When I look at some of the very personal postings on ex-christian.net, I can't but help see how some ex-christians really felt betrayed after years in the faith that it didn't quite live up to it's promises from the Bible.
