I am just wondering if anyone else was perhaps raised in this funny little place and has any familiarity and is here now.

All the Best!

Are you asking if anybody was raised in California?
I can't find a connection between your thread title and your post so not sure what you're looking for.

I'm thinking the OP is maybe referring to the little town of Lourdes in France, home to 'the appearance of the Virgin Mary', and place of pilgrimage for people seeking miracle cures?

The handle is BornInCali ... Cali, Colombia? Who knows.

We atheists have even less crystal balls than most people so I think the OP, assuming they even come back (they were looking for instant chat, from the way the message was written, and of course didn't get it) is going to have to actually be coherent.

No, I think he is referring to a cult called The Local Church or The Lord's Recovery. I don't see any real question related to the atheism forum though.

Local Church Movement, Lord's Recovery Movement, or The Move of God?

If you are looking in this forum's resident group of Atheists and Agnostics for people who used to belong to cults (small anti-freedom religious sects), or to Local Church/Lord's Recovery tax-exempt business, I'm afraid I've never really ran into any to my awareness.

After being traumatized and indoctrinated by a cult, I would think it might be hard for a person to live on their own as an independent atheist/agnostic... I'm not sure.

I had no idea what to Google FOR. The terms are pretty generic, and were written almost with the assumption most readers would have even heard of it.

You might have better luck on one of the web sites that exist for former cult members, or even ex-christian.net, as it appears this qualifies as a Christianity-derived cult.
