The Shanti Mantras or "Peace Mantras" are Hindu prayers for peace (Shanti)

Shanti Mantras are found in Upanishads, where they are invoked in the beginning of some topics of Upanishads. They are supposed to calm the mind of reciter and environment around him/her. Reciting them is also believed to be removing any obstacles for the task being started.

Om sarveshaam swastir bhavatu
Sarveshaam shantir bhavatu

Sarveshaam poornam bhavatu
Sarveshaam mangalam bhavatu

Sarve bhavantu sukhinah
Sarve santu niraamayaah

Sarve bhadraani pashyantu
Maakaschit duhkha bhaag bhavet

Meaning:

Auspiciousness be unto all; peace be unto all;
fullness be unto all; prosperity be unto all.

May all be happy!
May all be free from disabilities!

May all look to the good of others!
May none suffer from sorrow!

Oakback, may I extend to you the happiness and joy of this holiday season. I too would like to offer all of my non-believing friends the peace and understanding of the new year to come and may it last forever.osay

I genuinely do appreciate the sentiment, but,......perhaps it is the skeptic in me, but, I really don't know much about peace, not a commodity I've run across very much, granted it was nice while it lasted but, the world is full of people, a notoriously unstable lot, some moreso than others.
