i have found quite a few homes for rent in the decatur area. i have looked on city-data for information about the zip codes, but am wondering if i can get input on them from people here. the ones i have found homes in are as follows:

30032
30033
30034
30079
30002
30035
30035
30030

i don't have children so school districts aren't an issue. many of the houses are around shoals creek park. is this a safe area? thanks!

Hi there,

I am not sure about a few of the zip codes, but I would say that 30030 (City of Decatur / Oakhurst neighborhood) is a phenomenal area with a great neighborhood feel, special events, restaurants, etc. 30032 is hit or miss and I would recommend driving around the area - there are some beautiful newer homes, but other areas are in disrepair. 30033 and 30034 are also pretty nice areas with easy access to the interstate.

Good luck!

I believe 30033 is North Decatur, including areas such as Medlock Park, neighborhoods on Clairmont Rd near the VA Hospital.

30032 includes Glenwood Rd and areas around Avondale. There are differing opinions on how well-developed the area is but most advise caution when selecting a home in this area.

There are many previous threads on Decatur if you choose to Search the forum archives.

Note: the original post is from July 2007. The OP probably doesn't need this information anymore.
