I'm from the east coast, moved to the west coast live at the beach for 7 years, and now want to live in the south to settle down. the ex moved to charlotte so the state of NC is out. I've been to ATL and liked it. (but also know many who said not to move there) Any advice? tips?

I'm a single professional 30 something looking for a new city. I love to run and be active outside. I'm not a huge club goer but like the laid back bar scene better. I'm a little timid to move to a new city I know nothing about. words of advice?

signed,

looking for a new city to live

sorry just realized this sounds more like a personal ad. not my intention, just trying to get a feel for the city itself and if its a good move to just go ahead and randomly do.

Research the threads in the US Regions forum and go state by state until you find one you feel most happy about, then narrow down your search even more. Good luck! I myself have been living in Houston, TX and loved the South, but I'm going back to the Northeast where my heart is.

You'll find Atlanta to be a great place for 30 something professional singles. There's a lot to do and a lot of people to meet! Not sure if you're male or female, but if you're a guy, you'll be very happy to learn the ratio of females to males

in my opinion (im 29 year old female) atlanta is a hard place to be single and looking to date seriously. i am also from the north east and had the hardest time finding a good, down to earth guy. also, the entertainment scene is very much geared toward young yuppy lushes or the black hip hop community. there are some good spots to the atlanta area - say decatur, vinings, or dunwoody. maybe check out some alternatives before you make the big move.
