Can anyone recommend a reputable local credit repair service? I'm not looking for credit counseling. I've found several but I need a referral in order to avoid any services with a questionable reputation.
Thanks.

You don't need one. Just pay your bills on time and check your credit report for mistakes. After paying your bills on time for a couple of months, your credit score should start to get better.
Clark Howard usually gives pretty good advice on this subject and his website would be worth checking out.

I'm with removed by moderator. You need a longer posting history here before making recommendations and posting url addresses - sorry. The only credit repair that didn't want me to pay them before getting started, they just send me a invoice every time they get something fixed or deleted on my credit reports, I'm working with them only for about 6 weeks now, so far they are doing alright I guess, 1 Chase credit card account from 2005 deleted on all 3 agencies, they sent me a bill for $90, Thats all I have paid so far, I think is pretty good deal.

There is nothing they can do that you cannot do on your own.

Many have been very successful at removing tons of negatives, mistakes and wrongful reporting while adding positive tradelines and not paying anyone a dime.

BE VERY CAREFUL, most are ripoffs. I'd only go through an affiliate of the national assoc of credit counseling.

As most have said you can actually do more on your own and you will. Start with writing down everything you spend money on before the month and then throughout the month. If your like most of us you'll be disgusted at how much you spend on stupid things.

Thanks James for sharing your experience. Thats exactly the type of service I'm looking for. I've tried this myself but have not made progress on a few stubborn tradelines. I will look into this agency.
