There's relevant and GOOD news for fans of Vickery Village in Cumming - Forsyth County.

Also, strangely similar news for the Woodstock Downtown Community in Woostock. Or at least the timing is pretty coincindental.

I guess the news is not "strange," but that fact that these were both Hedgewood Concept Communities and they both were in just about the exact same state, and they both got new lifelines from completely different deals, is pretty coincindental.

Maybe this is a tiny sign for the homebuilding industry in the North Atlanta area.

Those are both great projects, and it's good that they're moving forward with developers who are keeping with the style/intent of the original development. We're dealing with a similar situation with some remaining lots in our development, and thankfully the city is just as concerned with making sure we get what was originally planned as the residents are- they recently gave the "thumbs down" to a developer who wanted to come in and build some homes that didn't fit in with the master plan. While I'd love to see some homes going up on those lots, I'd much rather they stay empty than have them filled with houses that don't fit in with the rest of the neighborhood.

RIP Hedgewood . Their work before they went under was unparalleled in Atlanta. So, Wieland will be building in Woodstock Downtown: meh. Not the worst, but they won't be able to touch what's already built, if the "sales center" is any indication of what they intend to build.

Bob - what community is that you mentiond?

Koko - I know. I hate it. Hedgewood was always one of my favorites. Innovators AND solid builders. They got caught spread waaay too thin in 2007/08 with Seven, Manget Marietta, Vickery, Centennial, Woodstock Downtown, Newgate at Windermere and ??

That's a big operation with a lot of inventory for a market crash.

I'm more confident in the Vickery project than the Woodstock one because as I understand it, the two partners in T Olive were partners with Hedgewood during those initial years, though I don't have that in writing anywhere.

Tough to imagine Weiland being able to switch gears enough and build in this style, though he has done it somewhat already in Weston in Johns Creek.

Weiland bigger and better funded but less experience in the style. T Olive - been there done that, but who knows how strong financially.

We'll see.
