Does the stars shine brightly in the skies at night at anytime during the year in atlanta? I am living in London, England and thinking about moving to atlanta with my family very soon. Seeing the stars would be another nice incentive along with your better weather. My wife and I came to Duluth area in 2003 and loved it but it was just 10 days in October.

Honestly, because of the city lights it is impossible to see any but the brightest stars here no matter what the season; you would have to get about an hour out of the city IMO to really see the night sky clearly.

Yeah, they're beautiful up in Woodstock or parts of Alpharetta. Pretty nice where I live, as well (East Cobb).

I suppose it depends what you're comparing with. I live in northeast Cobb, very near the corner of the county, and I'd pretty much echo LD's opinion - there's far too much city light to see almost anything in the night sky. But I'm comparing with rural places where I've lived in the past.

Default Thank you all very much.

STARS...It makes sense, countryside if you want to see them and lucky if you do see them in the city.

Looking to come because I am of the view that atlanta and its suburbs afford a very high quality of living even for an average hard working family. London is exciting and is economically powerful but even with the equivalent of $500k you can not buy any house within 20 miles of the city. If you are lucky to find something, it is over 70 to 100 years old and require re wiring, roofing, flooring or something and your house is connected to your neighbours. In the suburbs you find many nice houses similar to atlanta but you always need in excess of $1,000,000.

Be happy, atlanta standard of living is high grade for the average family....
