The world’s most famous museum of the bizarre is considering Atlanta for its next location — believe it or not.

After reading the story about the NASCAR museum. I expect you to post a story in a few years. Ripley draw much fewer then expect. Atlanta looking for way to fill the gap.

Im no great fan of NASCAR but I have NO doubt that if iy=t had been in Atlanta it would not have had the problem its having.Atlanta has enough other attractions to draw almost any type of museum. As it stand at leat 2 more are in the planning stages. The National Civil Rights Museum showcases the King papers the city bought and the College Football HOF that is moving here from Ohio.

Just wanted to correct you that the College Football HOF is/was in South Bend, Indiana. The Pro Football HOF is in Canton, Ohio.

I am no fan of Ripley Believe or Not.. I hope they could have something better than what they have up in Tennessee.

Am I supposed to get excited about this? Because I'm not. This is just slightly better than that idiotic pirate museum idea that I hope was a joke. Ripley's are just sort of lame. There seems to be one in every other city nowadays and I just don't think it would add anything to the mix.

Great news! Any news on any museum coming to downtown is good because it may give visitors another reason to stay one extra day in the city.

Actually I like the bizarre. Nothing beats looking at shrunken Jivaro Indian skulls, voodoo dolls, pregnancy chairs (magical chairs you sit on, then "magically" become pregnant), eating cars (transmission and all), pulling on your eyelids with ropes or chains and not losing either eyes or lids, horns growing from peoples heads, and puffing cigarette smoke from your eyes or ears. One whale of a way to spend an afternoon or evening. But give me the Aquarium any day of the week!

Besides Gatlinburg, I've been to the ones in St. Augustine, Florida and Key West, Florida, as well as Hollywood, California, Newport, Oregon, and the one in Myrtle Beach, S.C. In my opinion, the one in St. Augustine is the best one I saw, but my favorite will always be Gatlinburg for sentimental reasons as it was first one I've been to (as a kid) and of course is closest one to where I live.
