Anyone have any ideas on who could help with this project? We live in an old neighborhood with a zillion trees and our house sits a considerable distance from the road. In some places the utility lines coming in from the street sag too low, and we're always having trouble in storms or when delivery trucks come in.

I've talked to the utility companies and they say it's fine to bury the lines, although I'll have to pay for it and it may involve additional costs to reconnect at the house. They'll pay for reconnection at the pole. I'm okay with all that -- I just want it fixed. I may put in a heavy duty generator while I'm at it.

The city says this all fine with them.

So I guess I need to find an electrician or other contractor who can bury the lines and/or hook up a generator. Have any of y'all had this done?

Thanks!

Buried lines are not only safer, but more aesthetically pleasing. All new construction should be required to have this mandated as a minimum standard.

Good luck with the project!

Please let us know if you find out anything more. I would love for both my cable and power to be buried. I would think a permit would be needed to bury.

I'm sure you're right. Although I haven't hired an electrician yet, the city is bound to require a permit to make the connection at the house.

As to the burying itself, I talked with a Georgia Power supervisor again this morning. He said they don't care, but you have to give them a heads up because it will require a different kind of connection at their pole.

I'll let y'all know what I find out.
