Hello
I am planning to relocate to Atlanta from maryland. I read the first thread so I wanted to answer the questions
1. Budget my budget is $1000 to $1200
2. House/Condo/Townhome? townhome (rent first)
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) both
4. Children(public school vs. private) public high school
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two surburban
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? not important have own transportation
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood. multi-cultural neighborhoods would be great. Safe and family oriented with good schools. I want to be close to the downtown area, but in a surburban area.

Checkout Duluth or Alpharetta. Both areas are nice, safe, multiculural and family oriented. The public schools are decent too.

Those areas are quite far apart when you are talking in terms of commuting.

There are tons of excellent high schools in the Alpharetta and surrounding areas, it is more hit and miss in the downtown (intown) ATL area.

I strongly recommend you shore up the location of your job first. There are lots of great options throughout metro Atlanta but quality of life can be greatly implacted by how good or bad your commute is.

If you plan to use public schools, the Alpharetta area is a better choice than Downtown Atlanta.

Are you working from home? Neither of your choices are close together (Downtown ATL vs. Alpharetta).
