I have a friend who has just moved to Belvedere Park in Decatur - they are on a very low budget and they found a 3-BR single-family house for rent at a very reasonable price. I went to visit and it seems quiet, if a bit run-down. The houses are all small, 1950s-era brick ranches in various stages of upkeep or disrepair. Real estate prices are exceptionally low ($30-70k).
