Worse then Mississippi and Alabama.

Feds release new high school grad data using common yardstick; Georgia’s rate is 67 percent, putting us among bottom three. | Get Schooled

67% of all highschool students graduation...this is just terrible....Ugh, I knew Georgia's k-12 education system was bad, but I didn't know it was this bad.

Shame on Georgia...putting football before education.

It could be the Georgia State Math test required for graduation (this senior year is the last that has to take it) is so difficult that many kids can't pass it. And it is a very difficult test.
I know some kids also have a problem with the science test.
A high school diploma in this state requires kids to pass tests in all subject areas, you don't just show up and pass the required classes.

Alabama has an exit exam as well. Lots of kids struggle with it.

I agree with this. I attended a math magnet school and I barely passed my math portion. Plus needing to pass the GHSGT in all areas with a score over 500 can stress the kids out.

You should check the football rankings.

Most of the top football schools rank well educationally.

That Alabama test only requires a pulse to pass. I don't know how kids failed it.

Georgia actually has a relatively difficult curriculum and graduation exam.

Going by graduation rates tell nothing about the curriculum, requirements to graduate, the amount if non English speaking immigrants we have etc.

Here in Ontario, our high school graduation rate is a lot higher.

Eighty one percent of our teens graduate from high school, across the Province.

Here is a link to a news story about the subject.

Newsroom : 81 Per Cent Of High School Students Graduating

So, how do we do that ?

Well, one simple way to get kids to stay in school and graduate......is to pass a law that states that a "drop out " cannot get a driver's licence, untill they reach 19 years of age. THAT works, very well.

A related factor maybe that in Canada, our Universities do NOT have sports scholorships, at all. So, attending a University, in Canada, is not a stepping stone to a pro football or basketball career. Oh yes we do have sports at our Universities, but the MAIN reason to be there is to get a advanced education. And yes we do have ACADEMIC scholarships, for superior students.

How many students in Georgia have scored a 100 percent average in their high school ?

here is a link to some of the "100 percent club " at Toronto area high schools .
