Is there a place in the metro area which is exclusive to old money, suburbs or otherwise.

A wish to find a place with mansions and classical southern architecture.

In short, focus on the areas around Piedmont Park.

Modern mansions can be found in Buckhead, vining's,, and sandy springs (paces ferry , west paces ferry, and riverside)

^ Yes to those.

Also in Sandy Springs near the river east of 400. Used to drive along Spalding and it felt very "old money". I'm used to seeing some upper middle class areas across the metro, but a lot of these homes drawf them.

Yes.

As noted on the page in the link that lorilove posted, Buckhead’s Tuxedo Park neighborhood is home to the Georgia Governor’s Mansion, which is a good example of the Greek Revival classic Southern architecture that the OP appears to be interested in.

Yes. Ansley Park probably would be the best location near Piedmont Park to search for what the OP is looking for.

This comment raises an important point, which is that, while Atlanta definitely has some “old money” elements to it, Atlanta is not really an “old money” type of city in the way that the affluent communities in some other parts of the country (particularly in Northeastern/Northern cities like New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc.) might be more established in that way.

Not unlike other major metropolitan regions across the greater American Sun Belt and greater American South (including South Florida, Southern California, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Austin, Nashville, Charlotte, etc.), most of Atlanta’s current wealth and affluence has been created in the decades since World War II and features upscale residential architectural styles that are not necessarily dominated by the classical Southern architectural styles that the OP may be most interested in seeing.

Not unlike many of its greater Sun Belt/Southern metropolitan peers, Atlanta’s most affluent neighborhoods feature residential architectural styles that are much more diverse and varied than just the classical Southern style that some may think is dominant in this part of the country.

With that said, in addition to the areas suggested above, some other areas that come to mind as likely having at least some of what the OP is looking for are some areas near Emory University (including and especially Druid Hills), the area around Capitol City Country Club in Brookhaven/Buckhead, and maybe the Chattahoochee Plantation/Atlanta Country Club area in East Cobb County.

The Peachtree Heights West area of Buckhead is another neighborhood that might be able to give you the type of experience that you seem to be looking for as far as classical Southern architecture in an “old money” type residential area.

Peachtree Heights West (Buckhead.com)

The Peachtree Heights West neighborhood is notable because it is the site of the Atlanta History Center complex, which is a museum dedicated to showcasing Atlanta’s history.

The Atlanta History Center museum complex includes the historic Swan House and gardens, which as a neoclassical mansion that was built in 1928, is an example of the type of classical Southern architecture that you are interested in.

Swan House (Atlanta History Center)

Beyond the Atlanta neighborhoods that have been suggested to you on this thread, truly historic Old South cities like Savannah, Georgia; Charleston, South Carolina; New Orleans; and Richmond, Virginia (and maybe even Wilmington, North Carolina; and Saint Augustine, Florida) may be likely to give you more of the old money classical Southern visual feel than a much more (very strongly and decidedly) New South city like Atlanta might be able to provide you with.

Although it doesn't have many "mansions", I've always thought that sections of Inman Park have more of an old "Southern" look to them than some of the other better-known, wealthier neighborhoods in the city. In fact, some out-of-town guests commented to me recently while riding through the neighborhood that it "looks like Charleston".
