Hi Atlanta forum, I haven't logged in for a while but wanted to say thank you to those who gave me advice on Atlanta when I was considering the move back in August. I decided not to move yet. I was rushing it a bit. I LOVED Atlanta when we there in August. We stayed in a hotel in Henry County, and I really liked Henry County a lot, especially Stockbridge.

However, with that said, I am now looking at Raleigh NC before I make my final decision to relocate. Raleigh seems a bit boring, but I guess I should visit before I make that assumption. Are there any Raleigh NC natives in Atlanta that could give me more info on Raleigh? If so, which city do you enjoy the best?

Thanks!

I live in Raleigh currently and I'm looking to move. I actually have a job offer in Atlanta and I'm considering it. I am a 26 year old lesbian in a committed relationship and I find raleigh super boring! We are looking for somewhere with more culture. There are not enough interesting people in raleigh. Too many soccer moms. It doesn't feel like there's enough diversity. We want to have children soon and Raleigh is not where we want to raise them.

I would say choose atlanta over raleigh. But that's only my opinion!

Default Well it all depends

I'm from Raleigh NC and the only reason why we are moving to GA is because of my husband's job. If I had my choice, I would move back to NC (we are currently in CA). Now if you are looking for the nightlife, Raleigh isn't going to give you much. Even though Raleigh call itself a "city", you won't get that city feeling. So if you aren't content with "boring", Raleigh isn't the place for you.

I relocated to Atlanta from Raleigh over the summer. I love it down here. On a recent visit back to Raleigh, I felt like I was in the boonies. Seriously, when I was back in Raleigh, I felt like I was in Goldsboro or something LOL. There are suburban office parks in Atlanta with bigger skylines than Raleigh's downtown! LOL.

That's an eye-opening statement! I will be visiting Raleigh next month. Thanks for the info.

We will be moving to ATL in the Spring. My husbands job is relocating him. I've visited several times and what I can see that the differences are is that Atlanta is more of a city and more to do. We are originally from Boston and it is not a city like that but definitely more than Raleigh. Raleigh is more spread out. There is no central hub except for people working in RTP.

Definitely more shopping in ATL and I think it is more upscale.

Raleigh is more family oriented. There are more parks, lakes and greenways. More laid back. Less traffic. We will be moving to Johns Creek/Alpharetta and where we are now in Cary seems more like a suburb. More traffic, housing developments, shopping, strip malls and chain stores. Raleigh is becoming like this fast though but it will be no Atlanta by any means.
