It's gotta be this. Thank you, Citizens United, for making it even harder for us to follow that money!

The trees are in the right of way. Cutting them down won't make an access road, ingress and egress won't be affected... unless you four wheel it over a bunch of stumps. All this will do is just make the landscape uglier.

Glad you like it, because you live in the city of feeder roads. Virtually the entire length of every limited access highway in Houston is surrounded by businesses. No trees, no nature, just development.

Don't get me wrong, it is more efficient. It was great to hop off the highway at 70 mph, tear into a Whataburger (mmmmmmmm) parking lot, grab a bite, and hop straight back on the highway, no stop signs or lights to get in the way.

But I prefer as much exposure to nature and greenery as possible. The convenience of a never ending strip of fast food restraunts and Best Buys on feeder roads pales into comparison to the higher quality of life provided by the natural barrier that these trees provide.

The last thing we need is more ugly access roads right next to the freeway!

I prefer what the northern suburbs, particularly in Gwinnett and N. Fulton are doing with parallel roads to the freeway, but they are set back.

The back of the businesses point the freeway... they front the street on the other side.

This can be done with or without the trees, is better for traffic, and much more appealing at the street level.

House Bill to cut trees along state highways dies in committee | SaportaReport

Bill was defeated. At least for this year. As always, remain vigilant and keep an eye on the legislature to make sure malarkey like this never sees the light of day.

Sweet. I seriously doubted it would get anywhere but you never know. I'm glad they shut that one down fast.
