Why no Atlanta Skyline shots in the final four Game One on CBS (Smyrna: design, best)

It was such a remarkable beautiful day, but why did CBS only show pictures of the GA Dome, and not Atlanta's beautiful skyline?

Nearly every single nationally televised night game broadcasted out of downtown ATL never shows the skyline, usually settling for those stupid fountains in Centennial Olympic Park.

Now ask yourself why not show the skyline? Because due to decades of poor planning ATL has 16 miles of sparsely populated skyline that looks like some kid playing SimCity designed. Not to mention ATL still uses those old ugly red oxide looking streetlights that look as horrific from the ground as they do from the air.

Charter a little Cessna for $150-$200 out of PDK early one evening for a skyline tour if you don't believe me.

Actually I have seen shots of the Atlanta skyline quite a bit during events in the past and the Atlanta skyline is actually quite impressive.

Warrior, I don't have a particular answer for you for this event, but they are more common when the production company has access to some type of an aerial camera....commonly an advertisement blimp.

Skyline looks good to me.

Yes. After traveling around the world I have come to appreciate the Atlanta sky line as one of the most beautiful. It as truly a "city in a forest" with scattered sky scrapers shooting through the lush tree canopy.

Atlanta has what I’ve always called “three downtowns” (downtown, midtown, Buckhead). It seems Atlanta doesn’t have a cohesive skyline. Looking at it from the ground, it’s not impressive from most angles. It looks the best when driving east on I-20 at night IMO. The best full view I’ve ever gotten of the full skyline is coming from Cobb County in the Smyrna area and from there it looks kinda drab.

I guess you have to be at the right place at the right angle to get the best shot.

But that is just the thing....

The skyline is very cohesive once you recognize and get over the fact that we have multiple business districts and you look at them individually

I think that's one of the points being made. That the skyline is sparse, and Atlanta really has three different ones. Because of that, it may not look like much.

Wow. I think the skyline is awesome and have often heard people say it is one of their favorites. Lots of good angles but if you drive in from north of the city or up from south of the city or from west I-20 you see great views at night. These are great for more broad views. Lots of nice views right in the city too.

And often you see great skyline shots during national games.
