Hey everyone? Quick question. What is cheaper to run in Atlanta? A gas or electric dryer? I have hookup for gas but have no idea if it is worth it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

It'll take awhile to offset the cost of having the necessary 240v dryer circuit installed.

If you are buying a new dryer, then go with gas.

LongTerm prices for gas stay lower then Electric, and with: time of day peek/off peek, over X kwh usage can drive the Electric price higher.

Also gas seems to dry faster, and more evenly. (Have electric now, The dryer that came with the house, but had Gas in my last house). I think I have gas hookup behind the dryer now, but its been years since i looked (So not 100%sure), But when its time to replace the dryer I plan to go with Gas (if the line is back there).

Gas is cheaper to run if you already have the hook-up.

Thanks red92s. I believe my hookups will allow me to do both. So basically I can choose which one. What I'm wondering is which utility would be cheaper.

Thanks guys, seems like gas it is then! I'm guessing the same would be true for cooking?

I don't know about the relative cost but I definitely prefer a gas cooktop.

Keep a butane bbq lighter around works well for starting them.
