For the last two hours I have been watching TV to see the Presidential visit to Amazon, which is just 12 miles from my home. Then the motorcade brought him back to Lovell Field to get on board Air Force One. Lovell Field is a medium size airport which accommodates regular size jets but is a little small for 747's.
At any rate it has landed here with Pres. Bush and now Pres. Obama. I watched the big bird rev up and lift off, which puts a lump in the throat
Then I ran outside to get a glance of the big plane. Sure enough in about one minute it came in sight at the north end of our subdivision and then banked to the east making a circle and heading back to DC.
All the cars all the security is expensive but no more so than one major scene in a James Bond Movie. Probably no more so than a minor league football game.
If indeed he can get the middleclass to move up a notch or two then it will be money well spent.

7400' is more than enough for a 747 with lite fuel load.

AF28000 & AF29000 were regular's at ABE in Allentown PA, 7500' runway.
