"Personal incomes aren’t growing quick enough nationally to keep up with rising home prices, but Atlanta is the nation’s most affordable housing market..."
No doubt as a whole the region is quite affordable compared to many regions but to previous post - a $200k house in metro Atlanta could by you a mansion like house as you describe or barely a tiny cottage - its all location. Desirable areas in good school districts or near other desirable amenities are not always as cheap as some may believe. That same $200k house in the city could be $800k
“Atlanta is so affordable because we have no natural boundaries, unlike most cities, which gives us an unlimited supply of land, and because this land is less expensive and houses are less expensive,” said Nancy See, president of the Atlanta Board of Realtors, in a statement.

I agree with this. It depends on where you buy. But it is nice to see, from the article, that housing is coming back strong in Atlanta. I should have bought more property a couple years ago!
