Two things we'll need in order to provide you with anything even remotely useful:

- What are you looking to spend in rent?

- Where will you be working?

$950 for rent isn't going to get you all that great of a unit if you need 3 bedrooms, and it's not going to get you a single-family house in a decent neighborhood. While you've narrowed your employment down to "the medical field", that still leaves tons of potential places for employment, and you don't want to end up working on one side of town and living on the other, or you'll spend too much time commuting and never see your kids. I'd start by looking at potential employers, and work from there, bearing in mind that you may have to up the rental amount to get something safe in a good area.

I don't know that that is entirely true since "decent" is a relative term. I know of several townhouse communities (mine included) where $950 gets you a pretty nice home in a basically crime free neighborhood. I guess my point is there are deals to be had (especially from people that got caught carrying 2 mortgages) that don't make it to the AJC or MLS.
