Hello All,

I'm a seasoned I.T. Professional with 18 years of technical experience. I'm currently living in Phoenix, AZ and are looking to move myself and my family home. "Home" for me is Atlanta. I grew up there and had made the move later in life to distance myself for the sake of chasing life and career. In doing so I left behind bookoos of friends and family who've made it perfectly clear that I need to come back. My family and I agree...BUT to start the process I need to start networking with Recruiters. The discussion's already been made about my relocating prior to our moving and that's not an issue. I'm on LinkedIn if there's anyone in the I.T. Recruitment field can start a dialogue with me. Please message me or reply if you're interested in networking with me. Thank you!!

If you have current IT skills, you will not have any trouble finding a job here in the Atlanta area. The IT market in Atlanta is (and has been) on fire! Instead of chasing recruiters though, let them come to you. Post your resume on all the usual sites, such as careerbuilder.com, monster.com and my favorite > www.indeed.com
Setup job alerts with keywords for what you specialize in and your email and phone will start ringing off the hook (*assuming you have current, in-demand skills).

I'd also add www.matrixres.com to the recruiter list above.

Is it really THAT good? I couldn't find a position which led me to move to Houston.

Are your skills that good?

Well, they paid to fly me in and a night in a hotel, just to interview me. I have EE, CS, and Math degrees, about as IT as you can get. I essentially provided all parties with the same resume.

From my perspective, yes it is, but in fairness, I'm probably a bit atypical. I have a heavy background in Networking/Cloud, Virtualization and DevOps. I also spend countless hours studying and staying on top of the latest technologies and trends. I think it's also critical to study the marketplace and follow (or anticipate) what's hot and chase it! One of the ways I do this is by searching Indeed.com for keywords such as vmware, ccnp, vcp, wireless, sql, cloud, devops, etc. to see how many hits I get and what they're typically paying. Reading the job descriptions also gives clues as to what's specifically in demand. Using that info I fine tune my studying and certification paths. It's worked very well for me over the years and when I post my resume, my phone/email light up.

Get your profile up on LinkedIn and look up jobs on DICE. You'll find something in no time at all. Atlanta's IT market is quite robust.

Can you speak intelligibly with people? I've met many IT professionals who can't string 3 words together and therefore never advance in their careers.

If you couldn't even get interviews in Atlanta you were clearly doing something wrong.
