I will be visiting Atlanta Labor Day weekend and I know that is the weekend of Pride. I wanted to know of things to do unrelated to pride. Any suggestions??

***CORRECTION***

That is the weekend of BLACK Gay Pride. Atlanta Pride (the "real" Pride) is in October.

Labor Day Weekend is also home to DragonCon, the East Coast version of ComicCon with various events all weekend. And, it is the weekend of the CFA College Football Kickoff Classic. Thursday, Aug. 28 will feature Ole Miss vs. Boise State, while Saturday, Aug. 30 will feature Alabama vs. West Virginia. That weekend will also mark the grand opening of the new College Football Hall of Fame on Centennial Olympic Park.

Needless to say, there will he hundreds of thousands of out-of-town guests in the city throughout the weekend.

I need some help understanding the "real" part... Does that mean the October Pride is the only one organized and/or sanctioned by Atlanta's city government?

eta: This is by far the most enjoyable time of year for my family. We run around downtown like headless chickens trying to take in as much as possible. There really seems to be something for just about everyone, on top of the usual suspects of WOC, CNN, Georgia Aquarium, etc., which are all still located in the middle of most of the action and make great spots to take a break.
