"The 15,000-square-foot Office Depot will become home to Tech Square Labs, that will birth information security, marketing automation, and business-to-consumer (B2C) startups. The venture is backed by serial techpreneurs and investors Paul Judge and Allen Nance.

The Office Depot is expected to close in mid-November, after which the leased space will be renovated into the open-plan, collaborative workspace favored by millennials.

The bunker-like building, adjacent to The Cheetah gentleman's club, will house up to 100 techies and include space and equipment for building hardware products, according to sources..."

And, in downtown Atlanta, Scoutmob co-founder Michael Tavani is planning a design and business-to-consumer incubator.

Meanwhile, a real estate developer will convert the 40,000 square foot Flatiron Building into an entrepreneurial hub.

At least we'll know where the startup founders will be heading after they close a round of funding or Google buys them out.

Based on a study I participated in when I was an assistant at GT, back in 2003, they typically go back to the cities they came from. While we do create a lot of great concepts and business ideas, we rarely keep them within city limits as the founders prefer to live in a more culturally diverse community (arts, entertainment, sports, etc.). This would be a great way to keep these ideas in-town longer, thus hopefully taking root in our city.

Nice to see someone looking to B2C.

Atlanta actually has a pretty decent tech scene that you've never heard of because the technology developed here is boring B2B stuff that nobody cares about (though it makes plenty of money).

Some nice B2C wins would bring the city some of the publicity it needs instead of just another marketing automation product or yet more electronic medical records software.
