Shoulder lanes will not work. What happens if an exit is backedup , blocking the shoulder or an accident is blocking the shoulder? A minimal effort of thought on coming up with the cheapest plan.

Nothing will help this site. Not shoulder lanes, extra lanes, transit lanes, train lanes, bus lanes, plane lanes, teleportation lanes, monorail lanes, skipping lanes, hop scotch lanes...whatever you got...the site is awful.

The new Braves stadium location definitely has its challenges, but its not necessarily as bad as its been made out to be.

While not much can likely be done to help out the location of the new stadium for automobile traffic, the new location in Cumberland is a location that has much potential for high-capacity transit access over the long-term.

The area will most likely struggle with traffic congestion, even if and when rail transit lines are built into the area, not only because of baseball games but also because of the increased development in the area that the stadium will foster.

But if and when rail transit is ever introduced into the area, it has the potential to take off in terms of development, popularity and accessibility.

If they are going to open up the shoulder lanes, they need to be open for Transit all 52 weeks in the year, not just during Braves game. Another issue will be the nightmare on the perimeter center surface roads where the buses will be stuck in.

And despite what people are saying about these shoulder lanes, THEY DO WORK. They dont work for people who want to drive and sit in the traffic, but for those on the bus they work just fine. Its been many days I took the 143 and it blew by all the traffic on 400.

What do the buses do when the off ramp is backed up onto the freeway, blocking the shoulder?

They sit there along with all the other cars, but we dont know what the plans for the 285 Cobb Pkwy exit will be for now. While I might get on a backed up exit, it pretty much bypasses the 5-7 mile backup leading up to the stadium The shoudl make a exit shoulder lane too for the bus to bypass all the traffic going to Cobb Pkwy. As for a 75N/S we will have to wait and see what the DOT has planned for those exits.

Unless a MARTA rail goes directly to the stadium, no one will want to take a CCT local #10 bus for 35 minutes to get to the stadium or a new supposed Braves shuttle 20 mins in which im sure there will be a surcharge to use.

These will be the main backups on game days in 2017.
Cobb Pkwy N, Cumberland Blvd, Spring Rd, and probably a couple more streets.

75N will be backed to Moors Mill on game days.
285W will be backed to Chamblee Dunwoody on game days.
400S will be backed to Northridge because of the 285W backups.
