...now I'm not a big global warming guy, I don't believe the hype. The earth has gone thru several warming and cooling periods, i.e. ice ages. That being said...

I'm almost 30 years old, born and raised in Acworth, I went to North Cobb High School and later graduated from Georgia Tech.

...as a kid, there was basically nothing but horse farms and woods around us growing up...that changed in the 90's 'til today. We were 99% White but are probably around 60% now looking at schools statistics, not to make this a race thing....

....my fiance and I were driving around Kennesaw and Acworth today looking at homes and happened to drive by the new Cantrell Park off 293 (aka old 41, main street) b/t Kennesaw and Acworth.....

...K-town bought this from the Cantrell family and turned this old farm into a park, big playground, walking, biking, asphault trails....

....we went by a few weeks ago when they put the asphault down, not too bad, but not too many people there...

....we drove by today and it was amazing, must have been a few hundred people there, it was packed, especially the swing set area (big area)...picture Piedmont Park's lower field by Park Tavern...packed!!!

....I know during our last election, Cobb had a vote on buying land for parks and green space, and I just wanted to point out how happy I was to see this! It was amazing!

....if you get the chance, vote for this....easier to come by than all the non-rail options we have!

so is it uncommon for there to be public park spaces in these areas? I'm from Chicago where there is a public park every 2 miles, i'm considering moving to the atlanta-ish area and i found your post interesting.

not uncommon to find a baseball field area, but a general park area, outside of Atlanta (aka Metro Atlanta) yes! Now you can find state parks, wma land, etc, but general purpose wide open areas...no
