If placed within the right institution, I can see how one can have an interesting career in this new age.
That's why companies are rolling out Discovery systems. That type of software can search across platforms and focus more on scholarly papers. Efforts are being put into intelligent agents to find what you are looking for. And with what we've seen with Siri and Watson, the future looks promising. The long term of librarianship as a profession, doesn't look good however.

Libraries are fighting to stay relevant and the latest trend I'm seeing is libraries wanting to be a re-invention of the library at Alexandria Egypt. Basically making the library for a place of interaction facilitated by the library being comfortable and allowing for creativity.

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion.... even when it is demonstrably incorrect and wielded by an ignoramus that cannot admit they are wrong and summarily refuses to accept any information that doesn't fit within their small, preconceived world view.

Hey, they hijacked the word "science". I doubt the actual scientific community gave its blessing and thinks of library science as science. Just expand the definition and suddenly "we're right".

You have zero clue as to what you're talking about. Zero.

That's all a bit of a mish-mash. There's a reason why that general definition is further down the list. I'm going with this 18th century one

The collective discipline of study or learning acquired through the scientific method; the sum of knowledge gained from such methods and discipline.
science - Wiktionary

Don't you have stuff to do? Like some cauldron's that need stirring or valves that need turning?
