The Hollywood of the South continues to grow....
Quote:
Georgia-filmed movies and television productions generated more than $6 billion in economic impact during the year, Gov. Nathan Deal announced July 9.
During the year, 248 productions shot in Georgia and they spent $1.7 billion in the state.

Chris Carr, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, said there are currently 42 productions in the state. More than 100 new businesses have relocated to or expanded in Georgia as a result of the film industry, which has been spurred by lucrative tax incentives.

Amazing numbers. And with Louisiana capping its tax credits, it seems that Georgia's film industry is destined to explode within the next few years.

The changes in the Louisiana credits will have a huge impact. For example, Jurassic World was filmed there.

What homework? The tax abatements are obviously working extremely well.

The industry is starting to reach critical mass here, and an economic impact of this level is huge.

How much did we give Caterpillar again for a couple thousand jobs?

Very good comment. The phenomenal growth of the film and TV business here is great news, any way you cut it.
