I think for a lot of Whitefield parents, the part they like about the Christian school is not so much necessarily the Christian teaching but the Christian fellowship among the other students at the school--a group of like-minded families coming together. Same could be said about Paideia on the other end of the spectrum.

Paideia isn't a Christian school?

Paideia has been referred to at times as "Berkeley Atlanta" . . . in terms of its high academics, but very liberal curriculum.

Would be a total 180 from a Whitefield or Wesleyan type school.

Agreed. My kids go to a Christian school (not Whitefield) and we have lots of friends at Whitefield. And yes, fellowship with other students and parents who are like-minded is a big draw.

Thanks, AtlJan, that makes sense.

Its different in terms of being very green and being non-traditional in education. One common phrase, its a school founded by hippies.

To clarify for anyone reading this, Paideia is not ANTI-religious. All the families I know who go there are Christian or Jewish, although most certainly there are some who are not religious.

I just thought I had heard Paideia having maybe a Greek Orthodox affiliation.

I can appreciate those points. When I went to school and where our children and grandchildren have attended, the vast majority of the families were Christian, with some Jewish and a sprinkling of others. Some were obviously more devout than others.

However, few wore it on their sleeve and religion was generally regarded as a personal matter which was addressed at home and in church.
