They say that there is no accounting for taste, but with such a pecksniffian mentality, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at your apparent disdain for some of the best burgers in the city!

I've introduced a lot of people to Grindhouse, and the majority of them have become fast fans (including a few foodies). You're in the minority here.

I've been twice. Although it was a decent burger, I couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about. Holeman & Finch in Buckhead, The Vortex @ Little 5, any Rhea's location in Roswell, and others have better tasting burgers in my opinion.
Well, I guess there truly is no accounting for taste. That's what makes the world interesting.

It seems a lot of people liked the burgers and although I admint this thread is not a selling point for them, I don't see any harm in trying one so that's still on my agenda.

On a different note, to this lady who clearly established a following, I can only say rip.

I've always thought of the Earl as Ground Zero for hipsters.
Since the Earl is a music venue, perhaps the clientele depends on what band is playing that night? I would imagine if there is some indie rock or pop band, maybe there would be hipsters there?

Never thought of that because every time I go, it's punk rock and metal fans. But maybe that's because that's what I like, but I've been there when I wasn't there to see a band and still saw plenty of blue mohawks and tattoos....the cool kind, not the hipster kind

The cool kind is what the hipster kind aspires to, is my point. Hipster is a thing now, but it's roots are what makes the Earl a cool place to hang out.

Had the flip burger last night, very good but it was a "hipster" approach on the burger as in it wasn't messy and had an "artsy" presentation. Will make my way to Anns Snack Bar in the upcoming weeks to try the real one, hope the place still has a good vibe.

As luck would have it, a good friend of mine went to the Earl last night. Apparently both the Earl and hipsters have changed - below is his review:

Quote:
I haven't been to the EARL in well over 10 years, until tonight. I lived in the neighborhood for a few years between 2000 and 2003, and I was always amused by the sideburns/mutton chops crowd, all showing off their sleeves in wife beaters and white tees, biker wallets chained to their oversized belt buckles, baseball caps on their heads and PBR tall boys in their hands.
The place is laid out in the same manner, but hipster styles have changed, and I guess from the number of preppy guys in shorts that the EARL has as well.
There's still a hipster contingent, but they look and dress differently, and Miller High Life tall boys have replaced the PBRs as the only hip thing to drink. Pissy beer is pissy beer, so I assume that the brand change signifies something, but I don't care what.
