Stockbridge/McDonough GA (Hampton, White: apartment complexes, for rent, houses)

Im looking at properties for rent in Henry County GA. I'm open to both apartment complexes and houses but I'd like to find a lovely house in a lovely family neighborhood - got a 1 year old child. Work will be in the Stockbridge area so I'm looking at neighborhoods in the area and in the McDonough area.
Anyone familiar with the areas; please recommend any neighborhoods that are safe, racially diverse and suitable for a young family.

I feel like Stockbridge overall has nicer apartments than McDonough. One in a fairly good school district in McDonough (or perhaps has a Stockbridge address) is on Eastlake Parkway (Waterford something). There are also several apartment complexes off of Eagles Landing Road in the Stockbridge area that at least look somewhat appealing. Most of the complexes in the City of McDonough are off the Hampton Street/ Georgia 20/81 exit and are older and seem less maintained than the other two areas I have mentioned. They are also in less well regarded school district (Oakland Elementary) than the Eagles Landing/ Eastlake Parkway (Hickory Flat Elementary) Good Luck in your move!

If you are looking for a house to rent in McDonough, look in the eastern (Ola High feeder pattern) or the northeastern (Union Grove feeder pattern). If you are renting a home in Stockbridge, Pates Creek and Red Oak Elementaries are definitely the better elementary schools in Stockbridge. The feed into Dutchtown High as opposed to Stockbridge High. As far as diversity goes, Henry County Schools are VERY diverse over all. The east/ northeast McDonough districts I mentioned are probably "Whiter", the Stockbridge schools probably have higher concentrations of Asians (Mostly South Asians India/ Pakastan) and Hispanics.

I have been looking and both of these towns and these two replies are probably the most positive that I have seen. Seems like everyone feels negatively about the Stockbridge area. I thought that there was a much better selection for renting in Stockbridge than McDonough as well. Moving from NJ with two young children...
