Didn't realize lacrosse was becoming so popular in the metro....

Major League Lacrosse is on the cusp of announcing Atlanta will soon be home to another club, Atlanta Business Chronicle has learned.

The league declined to comment. However, Marty Elliott, general manager of Kennesaw State’s Fifth Third Bank Stadium, said in an emailed statement to Atlanta Business Chronicle, “We have been working with Major League Lacrosse for some time in the hopes of securing a team for the Atlanta market, however specifics of any current or future arrangements are confidential.”

What a coincidence! We have a stadium that will soon be without an occupant--just perfect for lacrosse --seats about 50,000!

Actually this is the indoor league. And they'll be at the Gwinnett Center, not Philips Arena.

No offense to Airforceguy who posts so many interesting tidbits, but I really can't get excited about lacrosse, especially when its way up in Gwinnett! Oh well, I will try to enjoy the Braves for their last couple of seasons in MY favored quarter of Atlanta.

Please don't go to Gwinnett guys! I hate that damn arena, it's incredibly unfair to most of Atlanta.

I would go at least a few times a year if they played at Phillips. I would be a season ticket holder to the Glads if they were there too. Now I only go about .7 times a year. Damnit I hate that place.

MLL teams play outdoors, and this one will play at the stadium in Kennesaw. The announcement a few weeks ago was for a NLL team, which plays indoors.

Whoa, two Lacrosse teams? Which is the more professional league, or are they both?

Whoa. Two new lacrosse teams--one indoor, one outdoor--in one year.

I like the fact that one will be in Gwinnett and the other in Cobb. That'll decrease the chances of their competing against each other for fans.

.
A whale sized portion of the metro population lives in that area. So, I don't think it is unfair to most of Atlanta just like it wouldn't be unfair to most of Atlanta if they played downtown, in Cobb or most anywhere else. This is nothing but a good thing!
