because that's what these forums are good for, a community of people who can provide personal information based on the questions asked. Can't trust random google searches sometimes.

So to answer the question...Conyers can't compare to Augusta alone...Augusta is too big and has too much to offer. However, if you're willing to drive back and forward to Atlanta and other areas then Conyers is your best best.

I'm considering Conyers and commuting to Atlanta for work. I've passed by Conyers on route to Atlanta via I-20 but haven't really gotten to explore it, so Augusta is pretty decent sized with lots of options for shopping and restaurants and wondered is Conyers smaller, larger or equal to Augusta in those terms?

Thanks!
Conyers is a Suburb of Atlanta, while Augusta is a Stand alone City...Way better options being in a Major Metro area than a smaller Town like Augusta... Conyers hands down, you get the Suburban small town feel with Big City Amenities.

Sounds like you want to be somewhere along the I-20 corridor to be closer to family in Washington-Wilkes right? But how close? Close enough for them to drop in on you unannounced and vice vesa? That's often the consideration people use when trying to put distance between family.

Augusta is a whole lot closer to WW than Conyers of course. I just Googled both, and it's 48 miles (50 minutes) from downtown Washington to Augusta Mall. From downtown Conyers to Augusta Mall is 118 miles (1 hour 43 minutes). I'd feel safe from "unannounced drop ins" in either place ... but my family may be different than yours!

Augusta is a metro of nearly 600,000 with plenty to offer, and Conyers is on the eastern edge of a metro with nearly 6 million with even more to offer. In Augusta you're gonna be 20 minutes from everything. In Conyers you're going to be an hour or more from MANY things. The question comes down to: in which do you feel more comfortable?

If I had a million dollars to spend and didn't need a job, Lake Oconee -- halfway between the two -- would be my choice. You might look into it. Madison, Greensboro, Monticello, Eatonton and Milledgeville are neat neat towns and all have opportunities I'm sure. Ritz Carlton has a resort there and a huge new brewery is about to get underway in downtown Greeensboro. But then again, sounds like you're tired of the small-town life. Ultimately, you are going to live where you can get a job.

If you can stand it why not Athens? Athens is close enough to Atlanta to take advantage of its amenities but far enough and big enough that it has its own identity. Plus it's a straight shot to to Washington-Wilkes via Hwy 78 and its not too far from I-20.
