There are Low end phone plans that give very limited to No Data, and/or limited minutes on the Cell Network, They more the can push on to WiFi, Saves them money.

The WiFi is also for phone usage of the Apps. Marta is pushing it see and say app, For people with limited Data they might not want to report something since it uses up there Data allotment.

My guess is they will setup the WiFi routers with Quality of Service (QOS) that will limit how much bandwidth each device gets. So you can Use Apps, Browse websites, etc, But try to stream a movie, you will not be able to get data speed to do that.

I was able to use wifi in most stations. Seemed to completely lose it in the tunnels though. And i had no chance at getting cell service.

Hey im exicted to see and use the feature. Headways can be long especially on weekends. Now if they can get more places to sit in the stations, do some pressure washing to some of the dirtier stations. The new escalators are great though. People often fuss and cry about Marta being in Cobb and Gwinnett, but a better investment would be upgrading the stations we already have.

Yep! As much as I would like for Cobb and Gwinnett to join MARTA (I'd be surprised if at least Gwinnett wasn't in by 2020,) the agency should be focusing on improving the current experience in its current service area. Little things like pop-up food shops, onboard WiFi and cellular service in tunnels and at stations, and future Breeze Card smartphone payment integration are all things that, while they may be small peanuts compared to rail expansion, are immensely appreciated by regular and one-time MARTA patrons.

I hope the pop-up grocery trial eventually makes it to full-fledged in-station retail, though. Many MARTA stations' mezzanines are empty husks.

MARTA is now catching up to 2005 technology. ITSMARTA!

Hopefully then can address the rancid urine smell on the trains next.
