I always hear how drastically Atlanta has changed, and how it doesn't feel like the "old Atlanta" anymore. This got me to thinking was it the influx of reality tv coming out of the city making it feel less authentic? what are your thoughts on this matter....

Interesting...what do you mean by less authentic? I have always seen Atlanta as a city that is ever changing. I don't know if I could ever see Atlanta as something that has stayed the same for too long (at least not towards demographics, the amount of traffic and construction in the city towards condos, etc). I guess I should ask what you have heard about the 'old Atlanta.' Please indulge me as this kind of change in the social fabric interests me so much.

Zero impact as far as I can see.

What do people think has changed because of it?

I have heard people say that but they are simple minded. Some people are closed minded and instead of walking the Beltline, going to KSM or PCM, hiking SM, going to a festival at PP or doing dozens of other things to see Atlanta culture they would rather base their opinion on Atl from watching a tv show. If people are dumb enough to actually let the media brainwash them into believing an entire metro area acts the same as the people on a tv show then they need some serious help

I agree. I see no change or impact at all, I think it's outsiders perspective.

I don't think the city of Atlanta has changed, but the city's reputation has definitely been damaged.

I actually think all of the reality shows has upped the glamour factor of Atlanta--a lot. A reality show setting needs cosmopolitan elements to be successful. It also shows that our town has interesting/controversial/dynamic people...and that's not a bad thing.

Shows want to film in city for a reason. Think of how many cities (most!) that don't get reality TV.

Successful reality TV really seems to only come out of Atlanta, New York, and Greater LA.
