Thinking about relocating to this area from Mobile which we have loved. Looks possible to find a house with land in the foothills at a reasonable price. Where should we concentrate our house hunt within about 30 minutes of Rockmart? Looking for pros & cons. Someone recently told me it is beautiful it'house lots of outdoor things to do & growing as ATL pushes out. Downside: Is the airport idea still on the table?

Yes the commercial airport is still on the "table", the airport is there now, would just be expanded some, Only One airline as expressed interest in it. For One or Two flights per day.

I doubt it will ever really happen, and If it does will be a very minor issue (unless you live across the street from the terminal). It is a active general aviation airport, Stats show about 30-40 operations per day ( Operation = 1 take off and 1 landing),

Guessing: weekday in the 10-20 range, weekend in the 50-75 range.

As long as your potential house is not next to the airport, or on the approach or departure ends of the runway, you will never notice its there.

Thanks for the reply, username suggests you are familiar with aviation in the area. Any thoughts on best areas to live out that way or thoughts in general about the area?

One of the major drawbacks to living in Paulding County for me is that there is no direct highway access to and from Atlanta. You have to take multiple smaller highways with stoplights in order to find I-20 and even then it's a good bit out of the city. It's kind of a tedious drive, so if that matters at all then I wouldn't recommend living there. Other suburban counties have much better/faster/more convenient access to Atlanta.
