I know someone that has children attending preschool at this church. She told me that it was recently announced that their land has been sold to whole foods. Does anyone have info on this?

Wow - if this is true, it is an interesting location.

On their Facebook page they indicate they have voted to merge with Faith UMC and note something about moving through the zoning process?

On Faith UMC website they reference that Cumberland UMC is selling their property and there is a developer for the land already identified.

Yes, and even more interesting is that Jonquil remains undeveloped right up Atlanta Rd and has been asking/begging Publix, Whole Foods, or Trader Joe's to anchor that mixed-use development for nearly 8 years now.

Paces Ferry right there by Panera and HD Corporate would be a great spot for a WF, but Halpern will have to be very disappointed that it's not Jonquil.

I am thinking that WF wanted to be a close to Vinings as possible, and possibly did not like the timeline to get the Jonquil property developed and/or wanted more control over the development of the property.

I always felt that if WF would come into the area when they were threatened with competition. The rumor mill was that they were not compelled to be in Smyrna/Vinings because stats showed our residents would drive to their other locations.

But with Earth Fare and Sprouts, those trips to other WF would be greatly reduced.

Yeah, heard the same rumor. Seems like a good location with the new residential development going on in that area, plus the existing apartments and nice neighborhoods of nearby Vinings.

Given that Sprouts is going in at E-W and S. Cobb, I guess Trader Joes is the likely high-end option for Jonquil. Hopefully all the delays won't hurt the development potential too much.

Makes sense that they would pick the paces ferry location versus jonquil. Much closer to 285 and a few office buildings.

Has anyone heard if it will be Whole Foods or another grocer going into this property?

Haven't heard a word in months. Crickets.

But, the Cumberland area now has:

new Sprouts on E-W Connector
mini-Publix supposedly going in at Jonquil
un-named "grocer" coming to Suntrust Park mixed-use
Kroger building at Cumberland Mall
Kroger Paces Ferry
Publix Vinings
Publix E-W Connector
Publix Smyrna

You have to wonder if Smyrna/Vinings can support another grocer, particularly a high $$ one like WF.

These densely populated high end areas can support a slew of grocery stores.

What is the difference between Publix Smyrna and Publix E-W Connector

Did we ever confirm the Suntrust Park project other than 1 comment made here in the forums.

I am not convinced Kroger will keep the Vinings Store open - with the new wall they just built you can't see the shopping center at all from the street level. That corner would be much better used for a mid-rise building whether offices or residential.

Don't forget about Kroger Vinings off of Atlanta Road and Kroger South Cobb Drive (if you are including the Publix properties). Oh yes, the Aldi and International Farmers Market off of Spring Road
