My daughter got an internship this summer in Alpharetta. She will only be there 12 wks - so we are looking for a furnished short term apartment. We aren't familiar with Atlanta at all. Any help on how far out to look (traffic) or neighborhoods we should for sure consider? The company is only giving her 800 a month for living so we know she'll need to pay more than that to live. Most of the execu-stay places want WAY more than she can afford. Any help will be appreciated.

Where in Alpharetta? Is she close to the highway (GA 400)?
I would advise to go no farther north than exit 11 and no farther south than Exit 5 for a reasonable commute.

Alpharetta is generally very nice and safe. What area will she be working in and will she have a car?

Yes, she will have a car. There's a place online we were looking at on Rock Mill Rd in Alpharetta. She's going to be working at the Seimens plant. Either at their location north off Technology dr or at the Old Milton Pkwy location.

Eh. I live in Alpharetta/Roswell in my 20's. Its definitely not a bad place, but its a suburb filled with families and rat-racers.

However, if she is going to be working at the Siemens facility off exit 12 then it can't be helped. She should live no farther north than exit 9 (Haynes Br Rd). That will at least put her within 30 minutes of Atlanta in light traffic.

She should spend as much time around Va Highland/Midtown, etc as possible. Because that is where the majority of folks her age spend their time.
