In reference to cheap handles and refacing cabinets. You can use non IKEA handles if you want (but you may have to get/cut different sized screws for non-IKEA handles). Or if IKEA handels keep coming unscrewed, just add a liittle Lock-Tite to the offending screw, and you will be good. The IKEA warrenty is pretty good, and even if it wasn't--the cabinet doors and drawers are pretty much all you see, and they are easily replaceable--they just changed the design--so replacements should be around for years. And if you decide to start with one finish for your kitchen, but later decide to upgrade or just change colors--the doors just pop in/pop out (they are all interchangeable--from the cheapest IKEA finish to the most expensive). Easy DIY thing.

I'm sure they can. But why would you need to do that. They should be crafted well the first time. Especially being handles.

We went with Ikea kitchen because my wife has designed and gone through the process of installing IKEA kitchen in many homes. We tried to cut down cost by putting together all of the pieces so that our contractor can come in and hang them on the wall. That process is a marriage tester, imaging putting together 40 boxes together (depending on the size of your kitchen).

Ikea comes with 25 years warranty, their kitchen cabinet quality are very good compare to the overpriced cabinets from Home Depot, Menards, and other cabinet stores. I was thinking of going with IKEA kitchen again if we move but they no longer offer 20% (cash back). It's a different kind of deal now. Also, you really have to know the measurements and get creative with fitting an empty space. An example, IKEA kitchen comes with standard sizes, after you draft out your kitchen layout with IKEA kitchen, you may find an odd space in certain areas and a custom cabinet would have worked out for you. This is where your creativity comes in handy to figure out what type of cabinet from Ikea would fit in that little odd spaces.
