Locust Grove, a once majority Rural Exurb in the Southeastern Section of Metro Atlanta has seen some Significant Growth and somewhat of a Building boom in recent years, not sure if anyone has noticed. Tanger Outlets in the Early 90's was basically the Opening of the Sleepy Town off of I-75 south of Atlanta in Southern Henry County but now the Areas has become a busy Crowed Suburban Town, Especially off of its Main Strip Bill Gardner Pkwy. A new Walmart, QT gas Stations, Car Wash, have all just popped up in the blink of an Eye and a host of other Stores are now Under Construction. Looks to be a new Town hall being built as well. With the up coming opening of the new Toll Express Lanes its kinda exciting to see what's to come for the Area in Coming years. It would also be interesting to see what the Census figures show for the area in 2020...

And you know this how?

Pining for unaffordable Westchester County are we? Perhaps you should cozy up more to the real money they have up there.

My family fled Henry County 10 years ago. The poor folks we still know there are also desperate to leave as Clayton has continued to spill over, they really have no need to be separate counties at this point.

So another piece of the puzzle falls into place....

So not only are you a malcontent, you have racial issues as well. Now it's starting to make more sense.

Crime does not equal race. I'm perfectly happy in my mixed race housing where there are no shootings.

Wow!!! I'm really surprised by this post. We all have opinions but I can't agree with you on this one. True Henry county has it's spots, especially areas in Stockbridge and close to Clayton and that's because it's more on the Urban Fringe but the entire County has not gone to dumps, especially Central and South Henry. It's more like a Norcross to the rest of Gwinnett County thing if you look at it that way. It has become much more Diverse and that is of many races, not just White and Black which is a good thing. The Original Post was about all the Positive growth Taking place in Locust Grove and South Henry County.

Agreed! (I'd also add eastern Henry County as doing well, and there are a lot of nice areas of Stockbridge away from the urban/industrial areas.) I live in McDonough but definitely go down to Locust Grove too. If anyone is out that way, the French Market is a great restaurant in the cute main street area. Great food, and it is a beautiful little restaurant/shop/bakery/event location. There is also Noah's Ark (animal sanctuary, free admission) in LG. My family always has a great time there. And there is a great antiques & repurposed/gently used furniture place there, the Grove Depot, that I like to go to too (near the French Market). There is also a really popular Mediterranean restaurant, Fusion, that is right near the border of LG & McDonough that is supposed to be great (haven't been myself). Just a few other highlights of Locust Grove!

I now live in Rex in a very nice neighborhood right on the border of Henry and Clayton near Fairveiw .
Its quiet and have NEVER heard gun fire or any other crime happening. Not even a break in.
Its a great neighborhood I live in and the property values are rising again.

The main part of Clayton that has crie issues is Forest Park and Riverdale. Riverdale is right next to Fayetteville ,yet I see no deterioration in Fayette.

I remember in the early 90's Henry was considered "redneck" central. So it was NEVER Alpharetta or Vinnings.
Henry is doing fine now just like Clayton is doing fine now.Crime in Clayton is actually down 12% last year.
