Admittedly some changes make more sense than others and that is certainly a legitimate subject for debate. Look at that they did to Midtown, for example -- sure, they "cleaned it up," but at the cost of countless bars, clubs and mom and pop businesses.
You continue to miss my point by a mile. Midtown's ascendancy had nothing to do whatsoever with the government's interference in its' redevelopment, except perhaps to support private enterprise in their endeavors. The private sector is what drove changes in Midtown, as it should on CBR. There's this pesky little constitutional matter, you see, referred to as the Right to Property.
Wan most certainly took government's role in a completely different direction with his heavy-handedness.

Makes sense if that's where the customers are. I didn't even realize Cheshire bridge had a bunch of heroin dealers.

Well, I don't disagree that he could have gone at it differently. But if you are elected from a council district I guess it's your job to represent the folks who put you there. Apparently the neighborhoods and the NPU over there really wanted to see Cheshire Bridge move forward.

I'm sure you know Councilman Wan and he's certainly no wild-eyed crusader. A very urbane and down to earth guy who's done a good job on council.

He would appear to be. He was simply dead wrong in pursuing this particular crusade, no matter what nthe desires of his handwringing minions were. That's all.

Well, as you know, Alex is far from naive. At the same time, he's got to represent his district.

With all the support for strip clubs we have in this town, it's surprising that we don't see more communities banding together to demand more strip clubs and adult entertainment facilities in their own neighborhoods. They'd be perfect for igniting TOD around some of MARTA's stations that are underutilized and lacking in development (i.e., East Lake). Underground would another terrific spot -- it's centrally located and well served by transit. Likewise with some of the densely developed nodes along the Beltline. Some clusters of adult entertainment venues adjacent to PCM or KSM would be fantastic.

You should put that to some of the religious types.

I personally don't see what "sin" has got to do with dancing.
