Atlanta's neglected infrastructure is getting worse by the day.

PLEASE EVERYONE do your part and report the thousands of unacceptable potholes, trash on highway flyovers, non-working streetlights, damaged signs to:

www.atl311.com , or rmendoza@atlantaga.gov (head of Public Works), and GDOT.

My list for GDOT is so long, that I'm procrastinating typing it.

There are two traffic signals in Atlanta with burned out bulbs that have gone 12-18 months without being repaired. One (might have been fixed after November's 1-year mark) was at Linden and Spring/Ted Turner Dr., & the other is at the little center island at Sidney Marcus and Buford Hwy, it's been out for at least a year and a half.

The 100's of severe potholes on practically EVERY midtown street (10th St. Westward, Piedmont Ave to Ansley) are beating my car to death.

I have lived all over the US and have never seen a population so indifferent to being served the crappiest street-side infrastructure in the country.

Also email thank you-s when they repair things.

My latest accomplishment: all the tall mast lights on the downtown connector are back on. I spent over a year trying to get them on that.

Last week I submitted request to ATL311 and included photos of every faded, disintegrating street-name sign at virtually ever intersection on Peachtree Rd. northbound to Lenox.

Why are OVER 80% of the street signs crooked, leaning or grossly damaged or faded?

Go to Los Angeles, where the ground actually does move, and every utility pole, every street sign, etc. is perfectly standing at 90 degrees from the ground. Florida, New York, & North Carolina also do a good job.

Please help me improve what people are increasingly describing as a dump of a city.

Thanks, just did a couple of them near me in Midtown.

I moved here for the trees. I originally thought ATL was a cesspool with crime all over, but then again, so is NYC. Where else could I get a great house with 7 acres for less then 200k in a very safe area AND I get to shoot in my backyard....I'm not leaving.

I'm not as upset as architect is, but it has always bothered me how it seems like the city doesn't care about quality upkeep. Kudos for keeping on them for it. I've called 511 before for state highways. You would be surprised how easy it can be to fix one of those stupid malfunctioning lights that favors side streets by just letting them know.

I'm sure it's not within the city but a ways away. I met someone who lives in Rockmart which is maybe 30 miles west of Atlanta as the crow flies who had a shooting range in his backyard. He had 5 acres and I can see his neighbor easily from the range. I asked him if they complained and he said no since they shoot in their backyard also.

Despite the condescending, irritating attitude of your post, there's a nugget of a good idea there. And it's nice to see that you don't just waste time complaining on City Data, but you're directing your complaints towards the people who can actually do something about it.

I, too, have had significant success with reporting issues to 311. I reported multiple broken sidewalks in my neighborhood, not thinking anything would be done. Within 2 months, new sidewalks had been poured in most of the places I'd reported. I couldn't believe it. I'm not sure if no one in the neighborhood had thought to report it before, or if the city is just extra responsive now, having amassed a budget for infrastructure improvements thanks to the recent bond issue and referendum.

I was also able to help get "no parking" signs installed at key intersections in Reynoldstown where parked cars were making it impossible to safely drive in the neighborhood.
